How can I book a rental vehicle?
The vehicle can be reserved through our website, by phone, sending an email or by visiting our offices.
What is required for renting a vehicle?
You must have a valid driver's license and an identity card or passport.
How old do you have to be to rent a vehicle?
You must be at least 18 years old to rent a vehicle. If you are under the age of 21, you need to pay a fee for a young driver.
Is it necessary to pay a deposit for reservation?
Our reservations are free and no deposit is required to reserve a vehicle.
What types of payments does Lutar rent a car agency accept?
We accept all types of payment for car rental: credit cards, debit cards and cash.
What types of vehicles can I book at Lutar rent a car?
We offer wide range of different types of vehicles. You can see a detailed list under here.
Can the vehicle be picked up or returned at other locations than the offical Lutar offices?
The vehicle can be picked up or returned at other locations, but with prior notice and our permission. Depending on the client's wishes, deliveries to the desired location may be charged additionally.
Is there a mileage limit for the rental period?
For all short-term rentals (up to 30 days), the mileage limit is 2500 km. For long-term leases, the mileage limit is determined depending on the client's wishes.
What is damage excess - participation in damages?
Participation in damage is the maximum amount that the client accepts and that can be charged in the event of damage to the vehicle. This does not include all damages or breakdowns of a technical nature that occurred as a result of improper use of the vehicle and were caused by the direct fault of the client.
Is a security deposit required to rent a vehicle?
A security deposit is required when renting a vehicle, and it depends on the category of vehicle and the type of insurance you choose.
What types of insurance are there?
What is Low protection?
Low protection is a type of insurance that is included in every short-term vehicle rental. Participation in damage with this insurance amounts to 1.000,00 € - 2.200,00 € depending on the vehicle category.
What is Medium Protection?
Medium protection is additional insurance with which you reduce the participation in damages to the amount of 300,00 € - 600,00 €, depending on the vehicle category.
What is Full protection?
Full protection is the highest protection a customer can purchase. This insurance covers all damages to the vehicle and provides you with the greatest possible protection. With this insurance, there is no participation in damages.
What additional equipment is available?
Additional equipment like child seats, navigation, wireless internet... can be reserved at any time until completion.
Is it possible to cross the border with Lutar rental vehicles?
You can cross the border of the Republic of Croatia, but with prior notice. If you want to travel outside the borders of Croatia, the additional fee is 42,00 € per rental. You can travel to all EU and EEA member states as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.
Do you have to pay a fee for crossing the border if you pass through Neum on the way to Dubrovnik?
Lutar rent a car does not charge a fee for crossing the border if passing through the Neum corridor.
Do I have to pay additional fee for the possibility of transporting the vehicle by ferry?
No, Lutar rent a car does not charge a ferry fee (FIT). Following our policy of no hidden costs, FIT is free for all users.
What is online check in?

How many people can drive the vehicle during the rental period?
During the rental period a maximum of 4 different people can drive the vehicle.
Is there a fee for an additional driver?
Lutar rent a car does not charge any fee for an additional driver.
Can I pick-up the vehicle at the airport?
Lutar rent a car allows you to pick up a vehicle at all airports in Croatia. We work on the principle of 'meet and greet' where our representative greets you with your name at the passenger exit and escorts you to your vehicle in the airport parking lot.
Is it possible to transport the rented vehicle by ferry?
There is no additional charge for traveling by ferry.
How to act in case of a traffic accident?
In the event of a traffic accident, it is best to contact a Lutar rent a car employee who will guide you on how to proceed.
Does Lutar rent a car recognize the client's insurance contracted by another company?
Lutar rent a car does not recognize any insurance contracted with another company. The client can contract insurance with another company, but they are not valid for the duration of the rental.
What is the fuel tank policy?
You pick up all our vehicles with a full tank of fuel and should return them equally. If you return the vehicle with less fuel, you will be charged the difference in fuel and the fee for refueling the vehicle.
Can I extend the duration of the lease?
It is possible to extend the rental duration, but you should contact us before to check the availability.
Can I return the vehicle before the agreed date?
The vehicle can be returned before the agreed date. You only pay for the days vehicle was used.

When will the amount blocked by credit card authorization be unblocked?
After the end of the rental, Lutar rent a car sends an email to our bank to cancel the authorization. Our bank will forward the request to the bank that issued the card, which usually unblocks the funds within 1-3 working days.
